Dr. Guangming Chen is a tenured Professor and Graduate Program Director (Coordinator) in Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Morgan State University. He joined Morgan after receiving a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Wayne State University in 1990. He received his M.S. and B.S. from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1984 and 1982 respectively. Dr. Chen is also the Director of Systems Engineering and Management Institute (founded under a NASA University Research Center grant in 2008-2013 to Morgan). His other credentials include service for Maryland Space Grant Consortium as an Associate Director and Morgan’s representative on the program committee since 2008, two award certificates received respectively from NASA Administrator Sean O’Keefe in July 2004 and NASA Administrator Charles Bolden in August 2012, NASA Administrator Fellow in 2002-2004, NASA/ASEE Summer Faculty Fellow in 1999/2000 (proposal development and preliminary design of ST-5 microsatellites), and several awards from Morgan State University for research contributions. Dr. Chen was a guest scientist at Brookhaven National Laboratory in summer 1994. Dr. Chen has served on three journal editorial boards:

He has published more than 100 journal and conference papers, and served as PI or co-PI for many research grants of more than $10 Million. Dr. Chen’s research interests include reliability & quality engineering, robust design and experimental design, systems engineering and operation efficiency, environmentally conscious design and manufacturing.
