Morgan Completes You Student Willie Thomas Receives the President’s Creative Achievement Award

The College of Interdisciplinary & Continuing Studies (CICS) proudly celebrates Willie Thomas, an exceptional student in the Interdisciplinary Global Perspectives and Practices program, for receiving the prestigious President’s Creative Achievement Award at the December 2024 Commencement. This distinguished accolade recognizes Willie’s remarkable contributions as a creator and storyteller, whose work exemplifies the very essence of innovation, creativity, and academic excellence.

Since joining the Morgan Completes You program in Spring 2023, Willie has exemplified a balance of academic rigor and professional achievement. As an adult learner maintaining a 3.5 GPA while pursuing a full-time courseload, Willie’s dedication to his studies has been nothing short of inspiring. Beyond the classroom, his creative talents as a photographer, podcaster, production assistant, and travel writer have made a lasting impact across multiple industries.

Willie’s artistic vision shines through his photography, where his masterful use of light and shadow crafts visually compelling narratives. His work in podcasting and television production has attracted a loyal audience, amplifying diverse voices and celebrating Black excellence. A testament to his professionalism, Willie has contributed to high-profile creative projects, including his work with Rihanna on the Fenty x Savage Fashion Show Vol. 4.

In addition to his creative endeavors, Willie’s travel writing and vlogging offer rich cultural insights, bridging global connections and promoting cross-cultural understanding. This year, Willie also began working as a visual interpreter, employing his talents to assist blind and low-vision individuals in navigating their daily lives—a role that reflects his commitment to using creativity as a tool for inclusivity and empowerment.
