Devin D. Brown, M.Ed., currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Center for Continuing and Professional Studies (CCPS) at Morgan State University. He oversees the development and implementation of CCPS programs including collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to award continuing education units, administering training programs and workshops for adult learners, and managing the Improved Opportunities for Parents and Beryl W. Williams Scholarships.
Mr. Brown is an accomplished higher education professional with a decade of experience working with diverse student populations, focusing on student success and retention. Prior to joining CCPS, Devin served as the retention coordinator at Morgan’s James H. Gilliam Jr. College of Liberal Arts, working with programs designed to support first-year students and adult learners as they transition into higher education. His work emphasizes recruitment, retention, and graduation initiatives, working closely with university departments to create resources and pathways tailored to the unique needs of various student populations. His approach prioritizes equitable access to education and in his new role, he will work to ensure that adult learners feel supported in reaching their educational and career aspirations.
With a Master of Education degree in community college administration and Instruction and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Morgan, Mr. Brown is now pursuing a doctorate in community college leadership. His academic pursuits are closely aligned with his professional focus, reflecting a deep commitment to advancing adult education and community college initiatives. He has received accolades such as the MSU Outstanding First-Year Academic Advisor Award and the Peer Recommendation Award in Student Success and Retention, recognizing his dedication to student-centered programs that uplift and empower adult learners.
In addition to his on-campus work, Mr. Brown has been an active voice in professional communities, presenting on topics such as effective academic advising and strategies for supporting African-American adult learners. As a member of the National Council on Black American Affairs, he advocates for inclusive policies committed to creating supportive structures that enable adult learners to thrive in higher education environments.
