Mr. Claton Lewis is an experienced higher education administrator and social entrepreneur who has promoted student success at the university and community college levels for over 16 years. Mr. Lewis has held several positions as a recruiter, adviser, adjunct instructor, and director. In his current role as Director of Student Success and Recruitment at Morgan State University, Mr. Lewis manages a complex array of student development operations beginning with pre-college recruitment through post-graduation placement. In addition to managing both student and staff teams, his key function continues to center around creating high-impact programs, cultivating a learning environment that supports a diverse student body, and establishing internships, jobs and training pathways for students’ career and professional development. Key partnerships managed through his leadership range from financial, business, technology and healthcare organizations and include companies like JP Morgan Chase, Facebook, Space Telescope Science Institute, Deloitte, Capital One, George Washington University School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Boston University School of Medicine and UMD School of Dentistry to name a few. These collaborations result in and create professional mentorship, training, scholarship, leadership, job and 21st-century skills development for students. Over the last five years, Mr. Lewis had the opportunity to create a (grant-funded) mentoring initiative on campus called Peer B.E.A.R.S. designed to improve retention and academic performance by freshmen.

In October 2022, Mr. Lewis joined the Center for Career Development team as the Assistant Director for Career Readiness.
