Education:

Dr. Naja A. Mack is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Morgan State University, where she directs the Human-AI eXperience (HAX) Lab. She serves as the Education and Outreach Advisor and a core faculty member of the Center for Equitable Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Systems (CEAMLS), as well as a core faculty member with the Trustworthy AI in Law & Society (TRAILS) Institute. She also serves on the Advisory Board for the Computing Research Association’s NSF LEVEL UP AI initiative, which advances responsible and inclusive AI education and research nationwide.

Her research focuses on Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (AI), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), and Multimodal Interaction, integrating Conversational AI, Game-Based Learning, and Adaptive Learning Technologies to create intelligent systems that personalize and enhance human learning and engagement. She examines how AI shapes human behavior and well-being while advancing the design of multimodal, interactive systems that are ethical, effective, and human-beneficial. Guided by a mission to bridge human potential and artificial intelligence, Dr. Mack develops AI technologies that empower people through creativity, innovation, and learning. Her work appears in premier venues including ACM SIGCSE, ACM CHI, and AAAI.

Before joining Morgan State University, Dr. Mack was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Morehouse College, where she worked on projects at the intersection of AI, education, and human-centered computing. She earned her Ph.D. in Human-Centered Computing from the University of Florida (2021), an M.S. in Computer Science from Clemson University (2013), and a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Claflin University (2010).
