Step #1: Complete These Tasks In Order To Apply
1. Incoming freshmen will need to register for Bear Necessities New Student Orientation (Bear NSO) prior to applying for housing.
a. To access the link for registration, please click here.
b. Please allow 24 hours for your BearNSO registration to fully process.
Please Note: Within 48 hours of your BearNSO registration being processed, you will receive instructions at your Morgan email address on completing the Housing Application.
2. For our students participating in the CASA Academy. We understand that your onboarding process does not require you to register for the Bear NSO; therefore, you must be fully registered for the CASA Academy before you are able to apply for housing.
a. This means that all fees must be paid to confirm your space in the CASA Academy before you can apply for housing.
b. You can find more information regarding CASA Academy by clicking here.
Step #2: How To Apply
- Go to www.morgan.edu/reslife.
- Click on "Access the Student Housing Portal" located on the right column under the blue "Additional Resources" section.
- Log in to the student housing portal using your University username and password. Remember that your username is all lowercase ending after the number in your address. Your password is the same password used for your email.
- Please select your respective application link (Freshmen). If you receive an error message, please contact our office at reslife@morgan.edu.
- While completing your housing application:
-
- You will select four (4) different building preferences. Please note that these preference selections will be used as a guide should you not participate in the “Self-Selection” process
- Complete roommate compatibility information (Note: This is a system-generated compatibility survey for general assignment purposes). This is not a roommate selection process.
- The University does not offer roommate selection. However, you can best achieve a preferred roommate by coordinating the timing of your application submission and participation in the “Self-Selection “process.
- Pay your $200 non-refundable application fee (please disable your pop-up blocker).
- Students residing in on-campus housing are required to have minimally the Silver Anytime Dining Plan.
- Remember, your application has not been submitted until you have clicked on the big red finish button at the end of the application. You will not be able to change meal plans (if applicable) or be assigned housing without completing this step.
-
Students will be notified via their Morgan State University email account only when it is their turn to access the system and make their housing assignment request.
- Please be advised that you will not receive notification of your check-in day and time if you are not full-time (12-credits) registered and have made satisfactory financial arrangements with the Office of the Bursar.
Step #3: Room Assignment
The assignments team will assign them based on the availability of the building preferences listed on their housing application on a first come first serve basis based on order of application.
Step #4: Check-In Process
Welcome To Your New Home
We are excited to welcome you to campus! Your student check-in day and time will be provided via your Morgan State email only, so please check your inbox regularly.
We use a process to quickly and efficiently move our students into their new homes. Our Cruise Ship style check-in process is designed to limit parent and student efforts as much as possible so you and your family can enjoy this moment. The move-in process is the same for each of our on-campus residential facilities. The only difference in this process is how you will access your residence hall. We will provide specific instructions on how to access each residence hall.
Please review the instructions and video provided as an example of how the process works for on-campus housing. You will receive the same instructions and video related to your assigned residential facility to guide you through the check-in experience.
- Before you receive your check in notification, you will receive an email for you to complete a welcome packet. This packet is a vital resource to assist you with getting familiar with life in University managed housing. Once you have completed the packet, you will receive your check in notification.
- If you are assigned to Thurgood Marshall Hall, Legacy Hall, or Harper Tubman, you will receive an additional email for you to complete a licensing agreement with our partners from Capstone. Please understand that this is not a spam email and you will not be able to check into your assignment until the agreement has been completed.
- Please be advised that you must have received your housing notification in order to move in
- Enter Campus via East Cold Spring Lane and Stadium Way
- A Morgan State University team member will direct you to the unloading zone for Baldwin Hall & Cummings House.
- Unload Your Vehicle
- Upon arrival, the move-in crew will unload your vehicle.
- The driver must remain in the car during this process.
- Parking and Shuttle Transport
- Once unloading is complete, the driver will exit campus the same way they entered and make a left onto East Cold Spring Lane.
- At the light, turn left onto Hillen Road, then another left at the next light onto Argonne Drive.
- At the four-way intersection following the light at the Murphy Fine Arts Center, make a left onto Stadium Way where the parking garage is located.
- Shuttles will be waiting to transport drivers back to Baldwin Hall & Cummings House.
