Amirreza Nickkar is an Adjunct Faculty Lecturer in the Department of Transportation and Urban Infrastructure Systems at Morgan State University. He earned a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering from Morgan State University in 2021. His dissertation “Developing an Optimal Dynamic Feeder Transit Service,” develops a series of optimal demand-responsive feeder bus algorithms based on minimizing users’ and operators’ operating costs.


Amirreza Nickkar is primarily interested in applications of operations research in transportation, with focus on optimization of transportation systems. He has published more than 17 referred articles in peer reviewed journals and funded research reports, and made over 20 technical presentations. His innovative research has resulted in one U.S. patent and receiving multiple awards including the Student Innovator of the Year at Morgan State University in 2019, $10,000 I-GAP Small Tech Transfer Grant Award, WDCSITE Scholarship Award in 2020, ITS Maryland Scholarship Award in 2018, and Best Student Paper Award at the 23rd National Conference on Rural Public & Intercity Bus Transportation.
