The Center for Urban Health Disparities Research & Innovation (CUHDRI) is pleased to announce its Inaugural Conference to be held at Morgan State University on April 3-4, 2023. The theme of this year’s conference is “From Community to Basic and Translational Science, Stress and Inflammation in Health Disparities.” This inaugural event will feature speakers from across research and science, federal agencies, community-based partnerships, academia, as well as graduate and undergraduate students from various disciplines.
Abstract Submission
Overview
- CUHDRI 2023 will be an in-person conference; presenting authors must attend and present at the conference in-person
- Abstracts can address a range of theoretical, educational, or research-based topics relating to the conference theme.
- Abstracts may have multiple authors:
- The abstract submission form should be completed by the main contact person who must register and attend the conference to present (oral or poster).
- The contact/presenting author should the list of authors and upload the abstract using the abstract submission form which can be found here
- All abstracts will be reviewed for the quality of their content, their adherence to submission guidelines, and their relevance to the conference theme
Abstract Submission Timeline
Deadline for abstract submission: March 10, 2023
Decisions will be communicated via email: March 13, 2023
Submission of oral presentation material due: March 26, 2023
- The abstract must be written in English
- Indicate the presenting / contact author
- Indicate names of all authors
- Include a title of no more than 100 characters
- Include an abstract body (excluding title, keywords, and references) of no more than 1750 characters (around 250 words) in a structured format (divided into clear sections with these distinct headings: background/objective, methods, results, and conclusions)
- Include three to five keywords
- Include up to five references in APA style (optional)
- Include funding source to be acknowledged (optional)
- Indicate the type of presentation (paper, poster) and if willing to accept an alternate format
Oral Sessions
These face-to-face live sessions are approximately 15 minutes followed by a Q&A period. The contact author is expected to be present at the presentation session, present the abstract at the specified time, and respond to questions during the Q&A time.
Poster Sessions
Posters will be displayed in hard copy format during the conference. The contact author is expected to be present at the poster location and respond to questions during the specified Q&A time.

The deadline for conference registration is March 15, 2023.
The registration must be completed by each individual attending the conference. The abstract submission section needs to be completed only by the main contact person (registered presenter).
