Education:

M.S. in Bioinformatics, Morgan State University (2021)
Research Fellowship, University of California (2014)
M.S. in International Health, University College London, UK (2009)
M.D., Urmia University of Medical Sciences, Iran (1997)

Research Interests:

Dr. Shiva Mehravaran joined Morgan State University in 2017. She was previously a senior research scientist at the Stein Eye Institute's Center for Community Outreach and Policy, University of California, Los Angeles, and Noor Ophthalmology Research and Development Center in Tehran, Iran. She is a dedicated biomedical researcher with over 20 years of experience designing and implementing various types of research studies and serving as editor and peer reviewer for scholarly journals.

Dr. Mehravaran’s main research interests are focused on vision and eye health. She has over 80 health-related publications in peer-reviewed journals, many of which are based on clinical and epidemiological studies of common vision problems and eye diseases such as refractive errors, cataracts, and corneal degenerative conditions. In the past few years, she has been improving her big data skills in biotechnology and bioinformatics so that she can expand her research to different areas of ocular omics and their interaction with health, disease, and treatment response.
