Welcome to the IMPACT Launchpad

The IMPACT Launchpad is a transformative program designed to empower all Morgan State University students, regardless of major or classification, to develop essential skills for leadership, research, scholarship, and community advocacy. Through four specialized components — the L.E.A.D. FrameworkElevate HubAspire Lab, and ScholarShift — this program provides hands-on experiences, guidance, and a supportive network to equip students for success in both their academic and professional lives.

The Four Components of the IMPACT Launchpad

  1. The L.E.A.D. Framework

The L.E.A.D. Framework is designed to help students become dynamic leaders by engaging in workshops that focus on both personal and professional development. These workshops are divided into four categories: LearnExecuteAccelerate, and Disrupt, each offering specific tools and strategies for effective leadership.

Learn Workshops:
The Learn workshops lay the foundation for effective leadership by introducing key principles and techniques for personal growth and team collaboration. The workshops include:

  • What is Leadership? – Understanding leadership principles and how to apply them effectively.
  • Conflict Resolution & Team Building – Strategies for resolving conflict and strengthening team dynamics.
  • Goal Setting – Setting SMART goals and learning how to stay on track.
  • Prioritization & Time Management – How to efficiently manage tasks and maximize productivity.
  • Self-care and Self-growth – The importance of maintaining a healthy balance between personal well-being and leadership duties.

Execute Workshops:
The Execute workshops focus on practical skills needed for executing leadership decisions and tasks. These workshops teach students how to take charge and make informed decisions that drive success:

  • Problem Solving & Decision Making – Learning frameworks for analyzing challenges and making strategic decisions.
  • Delegation – The art of assigning tasks effectively to ensure team success.

Accelerate Workshops:
The Accelerate workshops aim to help students build relationships and expand their influence within professional settings:

  • Networking & Social Media – How to use social platforms for personal branding and career development.

Disrupt Workshop:
This workshop challenges students to think innovatively and disrupt traditional leadership models to adapt to evolving environments:

  • Innovation in Organizational Leadership – How to bring creativity and change into leadership practices to foster growth and progress.
  1. Elevate Hub

The Elevate Hub supports students’ academic success and career development through a variety of resources and workshops. This component focuses on providing the tools students need to excel in their studies while preparing for a successful future. Services include:

  • Tutoring – Peer tutoring for courses across various disciplines to strengthen academic performance.
  • Career Development Workshops – These workshops provide strategies for job searching, resume building, and interview preparation. Topics include:
    • GPA: Goals, Plans, Actions
    • Internships: The Importance of Internships & Making the Most of Them
    • Networking & Social Media
    • Interviewing Strategies
  1. Aspire Lab

The Aspire Lab is where students actively engage in research and become leaders in their fields. Through the Bench Skills for Success Initiative, students gain hands-on experience and practical research skills that will benefit them throughout their academic careers. Students also participate in The Other Side: Non-STEM Research Highlight Mixers, where they can attend sessions that highlight diverse, non-STEM research topics. These mixers allow students to engage with faculty, explore research in various disciplines, and foster collaboration with their peers.

Key Programs in the Aspire Lab:

  • Bench Skills for Success – Training on essential research techniques and methodologies.
  • The Other Side: Non-STEM Research Highlight Mixers – Research presentations and discussions led by faculty members from across disciplines to showcase the diversity of academic inquiry.
  1. ScholarShift

ScholarShift is focused on community outreach and fostering the next generation of leaders. Students involved in ScholarShift become mentors in the Big Bear Little Bear and Mini-Researchers programs. These programs connect Morgan State University students with elementary and high school students to teach them research basics and promote college readiness. Through these mentorship opportunities, students not only help their mentees but also develop a deeper sense of responsibility and leadership within their communities.

Key Programs in ScholarShift:

  • Big Bear Little Bear Mentorship Program – College students mentor younger students, fostering academic curiosity and leadership development.
  • Mini-Researchers Program – Students teach high school students the fundamentals of research while also enhancing their college awareness.
