Sophie Maguire is a visiting instructor in the Graduate Program in Landscape Architecture, teaching courses in digital drawing and sustainable construction materials and methods. She holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, and a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Political Science from Connecticut College. Previously, Sophie taught graduate and undergraduate design seminars and studios in the School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture at the University of British Columbia, where she focused on issues related to ecology, resilience, and public imagination. A former designer with the City of Baltimore Recreation and Parks Capital Division, and Baltimore's Unknown Studio, Sophie has worked in Vancouver, New York, and Minneapolis on a range of projects in the United States, Canada, France, and Thailand including institutional campuses, residential gardens, and public art installations. Sophie's writing has been published in Landscape|Paysages, Scapegoat Journal, Testing Ground Journal, and GSD Platform, and her performance and set design work presented throughout New York City and Vancouver.
