Dr. Leslie A. Anderson is a family scientist, family therapist, and Assistant Professor of Family & Consumer Sciences at Morgan State University. She is also research faculty at Morgan’s National Center for the Elimination of Educational Disparities (NCEED).

Through her program of research, Dr. Anderson examines the experiences of Black youth and families, and particularly their processes of racial socialization, ethnic-racial identity development, and psychological well-being. She has published articles in numerous peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Social Issues, the Journal of Black Psychology, Journal of Research on Adolescence, Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology, and others. Dr. Anderson has presented her scholarship on state, national, and international platforms. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Family Process Institute and the editorial boards for the Journal of Family Theory and Review and Qualitative Inquiry. 

Dr. Anderson is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR). She also serves on the advisory committee for AAMFT's Minority Fellowship Program and the eligibility review committee for the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE).
Most recently, as part of a collaboration with researchers from the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Chicago, Dr. Anderson received a subaward from the National Institutes of Health to assist in a five-year longitudinal study examining risk and protective factors for suicidality among Black American youth. 
The cornerstone of Dr. Anderson’s research involves deliberate actions towards amplifying the voices of the underserved and historically excluded and centering the experiences of those on the margins.

In addition to her scholarship, Dr. Anderson maintains a private practice as a licensed marriage and family therapist.
