Cassandra Dickerson is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences for the Fashion Merchandising Track. She joined the Morgan State faculty in 2012. Ms. Dickerson holds a master's degree from the University of North Texas in Fashion Merchandising and is currently completing a PhD program at North Carolina State University- Wilson College of Textiles.
Her career goal can be summed up with this statement: "I improve the quality of life through textiles."
Ms. Dickerson also has over twenty years of retail experience, clothing construction, and wardrobe/costume design for the television and the film industry.

Ms. Dickerson served as the Principal Investigator on the first national 3D Body Scan project to be held on a predominantly Historic Black College/University (HBCU), funded by Human Solutions and Size North America.
Ms. Dickerson's passion and research are in textile design and product development. (design/creating fabric; fiber performance). Through the use of Digital Textile Printing, Ms Dickerson engineered a textile design of Harriet Tubman on the Twenty-dollar bill. In 2007, while studying at Philadelphia University, she created a patentable, non-woven product and it is the basis of her current research in microencapsulation technology. Ms. Dickerson's research has also received funding through the MSU Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) Division of Research and Economic Development (DRED) for a Prototype I-Gap Award-Apparel for Slow-Release Topical Administration of Natural Products.
Ms. Dickerson is a member of the International Apparel and Textile Association (ITAA), the Costume Society of America (CSA) and the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS).
