Center for Data Analytics and Sports Gaming Research

The Center for Data Analytics and Sports Gaming (CDASG) aims to study and support research into emerging technological, socio-behavioral, and attitudes towards eSports, sports wagering, problem gambling, and entrepreneurial and business development trends to inform public policy and regulation. The Center focuses on informing and educating students in data analytics and its uses in sports. An essential goal of the Center is to serve as a resource to the marginalized communities and, through a partnership with other State and national centers, to inform and educate and provide referral services.


To be a leading Center for scholarly inquiry on the dimensions and impacts of eSports and sports gaming. To engage in innovative research and education, and insights into policy and regulation. To be a recognized Center for research and learning opportunities in data analytics for students to develop a diversified skilled workforce. To be a recognized support Center for the underserved communities affected by problem gambling.


The Center conducts rigorous and impactful research that guides the State stakeholders in the development of comprehensive policy and programs in sports gaming and eSports that improve the lives of individuals and the underserved communities. The Center through collaborative pursuits and innovative research and educational programs addresses societal problems, specifically in the marginalized communities. The Center offers learning opportunities to Maryland HBCU students to improve skills and knowledge in data analytics.
