The "A" in ALEKS is for Amazing

by Rianna Johnson • May 3, 2020

My experience in ALEKS has definitely had its fair share of ups and downs. Considerably though, ALEKS has helped me in so many more ways than it has harmed me.

When I first started ALEKS, I didn't really understand how to use it and I honestly didn't take advantage of its resources. For example, the preview explanations in the beginning of each topic. I used to skip through those without really reading or even taking much note so when I did the problems, I had a bit of trouble completing them correctly. Then, as I progressed on I started to get the hang of it, and it changed. The previews honestly give me amazing insight and they help me to realize for myself how to do the work the right way before I start practicing on my own which is incredibly helpful. Something else I like about ALEKS are the encouraging words. For example, if I get all my problems right on a section they say things like "good work" which really keep you going and make you wanna do more.

There isn't much I dislike about ALEKS. Something I would change about the system is how when you mess up, you can get a second chance to do something with no deduction. Sometimes mistakes happen and I feel like it sets you back some when you mess up and the point automatically gets taken off. Some advice I would give to new ALEKS users is come in open-minded. What I mean by this is don't come in stuck in your ways and not wanting to fully 100% do the work. ALEKS is about hard work and dedication and it honestly all works out in the end.

Before ALEKS I needed a lot of help in math and now that I am nearing the end of a semester I can proudly say I help people now who need help with their math and it honestly excites me for the next chapter of math I will come across. I will continue to use it as long as I can because no other math site has helped me as much. Thank you ALEKS.
