Dr. Anthony A. Saka is a professor in and was the inaugural chair of the Department of Transportation and Urban Infrastructure Studies in the School of Engineering at Morgan State University. He has been involved in transportation-related professional/pedagogical/research activities since 1987. His current teaching and research interests include using systems thinking approach in modeling and solving complex transportation problems. He has done projects for USDOT, Maryland SHA, Maryland MVA, Johns Hopkins University, and Michael Baker, Inc.; and authored several technical articles in archival publications. He is a registered professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia and Maryland, and a member of the inaugural groups of Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) and Professional Transportation Planners (PTP). He received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Transportation Systems) from the University of Virginia, M.U.R.P. (Transportation Planning) from the University of Pittsburgh, and B.A. in City and Regional Planning from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now known as the University Louisiana at Lafayette). Dr. Saka is a Fellow in the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
