Coaching Fellows
The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) Coaching Fellows provide graduate students with essential dissertation and thesis support, including formatting assistance, style guide/manual guidance, and reviews for common errors. In collaboration with Dr. Kevin Bradley, the Fellows play a key role in the form and style review process, ensuring submitted dissertations and theses meet SGS standards. Campus Compact is a nonprofit organization that supports colleges and universities in advancing their academic and civic missions by partnering with communities to address complex social issues and promote equity, justice, and shared prosperity. It is the largest and oldest higher education association dedicated to civic and community engagement.
In January 2026, SGS began an institutional membership with Campus Compact, gaining access to networking and professional development opportunities, learning and action resources, credentialing and recognition programs, and a collective voice for higher education community engagement.

Transformational student experiences, including the Newman Civic Fellowship, student civic engagement training and educational opportunities, and an all-new student leadership program (launching as a pilot in Fall 2026) focused on the intersection of fiscal policy and public problem solving.

Professional development programs that challenge faculty and practitioners to hone their craft, including cohort-based programs like the Engaged Scholars Initiative and the Mid-Career Learning Community, the Changemakers Retreat, publishing opportunities, and an updated Community Engagement Professional Credentialing program.

Learning laboratories and high-impact events that bring institutions and leaders together to discuss complex issues, such as Communities of Practice, affinity networks, national conferences, and fellowships.

National service programs that power campuses and communities, programs that alleviate poverty and make an impact on environmental sustainability, including AmeriCorps VISTA and EnviroCorps.

National recognition of outstanding community engagement work on campuses through the Campus Compact Impact Awards, the bi-weekly member digest, and their monthly Common Cause newsletter, which highlights campuses and individuals doing this work.

Federal advocacy and national partnerships that advance Campus Compact's collective work, including a new partnership with AAC&U, More Perfect, and the University of Virginia’s Karsh Institute of Democracy to launch the Higher Education Democracy Exchange (HEDx), new toolkits and initiatives focused on advancing our shared priorities like community service, federal work study, and being a visible voice in Washington, D.C.
At the national level, Campus Compact connects Morgan State University to hundreds of peers across the country and provides tools, resources, and inspiration to help advance our strategic priorities and public mission.

In January 2025, SGS launched an institutional subscription to Nature Masterclasses On-demand, providing students, faculty, and staff with free access to its extensive online course offerings. Covering the entire research cycle—from experimental design to career advancement—Nature Masterclasses delivers expert-led, on-demand courses designed to enhance research skills and professional development. CoJourn is a personal growth and goal achievement program designed to help individuals build accountability, connection, and support in their pursuit of meaningful goals. Through structured partnerships, participants work together to maintain motivation and progress.
At Morgan State University, CoJourn is leveraged to help graduate students stay on track for timely degree completion, fostering a supportive and goal-oriented academic journey. The program launched in Fall 2025 and continued through Spring 2026. The Spring 2026 program dates are listed below:

Instats is a mission-driven organization devoted to improving research practices across the globe. Instats does this by facilitating expert-led training for PhD and post-PhD researchers across a broad range of fields, methods, and theoretical orientations through the Instats platform.
