University Student Center's WiFi Gets a Boost with WiFi 6

February 16, 2024

DIT is excited to share that, thanks to a generous grant from NTIA, the WiFi in the University Student Center has undergone a significant upgrade to the cutting-edge technology, WiFi 6. The wireless network infrastructure upgrade was successfully implemented in January 2024, bringing along impressive benefits for all users.

With a maximum bandwidth of 9.6 Gbps (compared to 3.5 Gbps with WiFi 5) and up to 75% less latency, this upgrade has significantly improved the connectivity experience in the University Student Center. For the tech-savvy crowd, WiFi 6 efficiently handles large amounts of network traffic, resulting in faster game downloads, improved upload speeds for streaming gameplay, and more reliable media multitasking.
