Accelerated M.A.T. Program

Accelerated MAT for Displaced Federal Employees and Conditionally Licensed Teachers

The Accelerated Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program in the School of Education is a one (1)- year graduate program that leads to a (7-12) teaching license in the following areas: Art, Biology, Chemistry, English, History, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, and Physics or a PreK – 12 teaching license in Art, Music, or Physical Education. The MAT program at Morgan State University meets MSDE teacher licensure program requirements. 

The accelerated MAT program follows a cohort model: a new cohort begins each fall semester and completes the program the following spring semester. ​

Eligibility Requirements include an earned Bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 3.00 in Art, Biology, Chemistry, English, History, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, or Physics. Or a Bachelor's Degree in another field with a minimum of 24 credit hours in the intended teaching content area.
