Applying to the Graduate Program in Psychometrics
The Graduate Program in Psychometrics admits students in the Fall of each year. Due to the sequencing of required coursework, Spring admission is not available.
Applicants should ensure all application materials are submitted by the deadlines below. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
Selected applicants may be invited to interview with the Psychometrics Admissions Committee.
Fall 2026 Admission Deadlines
Master's Program
International Applicants - April 1, 2026
US Applicants - May 1, 2026
Doctoral Program
All Applicants - January 15, 2026
General Application Information
Applicants must complete the application process using the School of Graduate Studies’ online portal and follow both the instructions below and those described in the School of Graduate Studies’ Admissions Policy.
Note: Applicants who do not have a Master’s degree in a quantitative field related to Psychometrics will not be considered for the doctoral program and should apply to the Master’s program.
Students in our Master’s program may apply to the doctoral program after their first year.
GRE scores are not required for any application.
Required Admissions Documentation
1. A Formal Application to the School of Graduate Studies
2. Unofficial Transcripts
Submit unofficial transcripts for all degrees earned and attempted. (If accepted, official transcripts will be required for verification.)
- All applicants: Must show a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 in all previous undergraduate and graduate work.
- Doctoral applicants only: Must show evidence of a Master’s degree with a thesis or equivalent in Psychology, Mathematics, Education, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
3. Letters of Recommendation
Please do not include letters from family members, friends, coworkers, and other non-academic references
- Doctoral: Three letters of recommendation
- Master's and Post-Baccalaureate Certificate: Two letters of recommendation
4. Writing Sample
Submit a writing sample authored solely by you (no co-authored papers). Limit the sample to 15 double-spaced or 7½ single-spaced pages, plus cover page and end matter (references, tables, figures, etc.).
Applicants with a Master's degree: Submit an original research paper or manuscript from their master's program.
Applicants without a Master's degree: Submit a writing sample or original research paper from their undergraduate major
5. Personal Statement
Limit the statement to three single-spaced pages and include the following:
- Research interests
- Academic and professional plans
- Your reasons for selecting Psychometrics and Morgan State University.
6. Current Resume or Curriculum Vitae
7. TOEFL
Students for whose instruction was not in English must submit results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
