Patuxent Environmental & Aquatic Research Laboratory

Dr. Kehinde Ojo

Dr. Kehinde Ojo is a Senior Research Economist at the Patuxent Environmental and Aquatic Research Laboratory at Morgan State University. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Economics from the University of Georgia and an M.S. in Food and Resource Economics from the University of Florida. Her research focuses on environmental and natural resource economics, with expertise in non-market valuation, behavioral economics, environmental justice, and coastal resilience. The overarching goal of her research is to apply economic models to environmental issues with implications for management and policy. One of her recently concluded research projects, funded by the Maryland Port Administration, focused on valuing urban coastal green spaces in underserved communities. In this project, she explores Baltimore residents’ perceptions, preferences, awareness, and valuation of coastal urban green spaces, with a particular focus on the Masonville Cove Urban Wildlife Refuge Partnership. She also examines how environmental justice information affects the value of these spaces. In addition to her research, Dr. Ojo mentors Ph.D. and master’s students and guest lectures in undergraduate Coastal Science and Policy classes.
