Admission Steps for International Students

2. Create a Student Portal

   • When you apply, a student portal is created for you (or you'll get instructions if using Common App) to track your application. Morgan State University

   • Check the portal often for updates or missing documents. Morgan State University

3. Submit Transcripts

   • You must provide official high school transcripts. Morgan State University

   • If you attended other colleges/universities, those transcripts are needed too. Morgan State University+1

   • Transcripts not in English should be translated. Morgan State University+1

4. Demonstrate English Proficiency

   • International students usually need to submit TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test scores. Morgan State University+1

   • Morgan may waive this requirement in some cases (e.g., if you studied in English in high school). Morgan State University

5. Certification of Finances

   • You’ll need to submit financial documents (bank statement, affidavit of support, etc.) to show you can cover tuition + living costs. Morgan State University+1

6. Application Fee

   • There’s a non-refundable application fee. Morgan State University

7. Submit Application by Deadline

   • For international undergraduate students, there are specific deadlines. Morgan State University+1

   • For example, according to Morgan’s manual, for fall admission the international “SEVIS” group application is due December 1. Morgan State University

8. Receive Admission Decision

   • Once your application is processed and all documents are received, Morgan will notify you through your portal. Morgan State University

   • Decisions are often made on a rolling basis after the portal is complete. Morgan State University

9. If Accepted: Confirm Enrollment

   • Accept your offer via the portal (or whatever mechanism Morgan provides).

   • You may need to pay a deposit.

10. Get Your I-20 / Visa Documentation

    • After admission, you’ll work with Morgan’s International Student Office (Office of International Students & Scholars) to submit financial certification and get your I-20. Morgan State University

11. Plan for Arrival

    • Once visa is secured, make travel plans, enroll in orientation, and register for housing and classes.

2. Review Deadlines

   • For international graduate applicants:

     • Spring: November 1 Morgan State University

3. Prepare Required Materials

   • Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions. For non-U.S. transcripts, Morgan requires course-by-course evaluations from a NACES-member evaluation service. Morgan State University

   • Letters of Recommendation (usually 2–3). Morgan State University

   • Statement of Purpose / Personal Statement. Morgan State University

   • Resume / CV, if required.

4. Apply Online

   • Complete the graduate application via Morgan’s “Apply Now” system. Morgan State University

5. Submit Supporting Documents

   • Send recommendation letters through the application system. Morgan State University

   • Transcripts (or their evaluated equivalents) must be sent to the School of Graduate Studies. Morgan State University

   • Completed Supplemental International Applicant Information Sheet (non-U.S. citizen). Morgan State University

6. Evaluation and Decision

   • Your application is initially reviewed by the School of Graduate Studies, and then by your specific academic department. Morgan State University

   • After a decision is made, they send a formal admission letter. Morgan State University

7. Financial Certification & I-20

   • Once admitted, fill out the financial certificate form and provide proof of funds (bank statements). Morgan State University

   • After verifying finances, Morgan will issue your I-20. Morgan State University

   • Use the I-20 to apply for your F-1 student visa.

8. Prepare for Arrival

   • Reach out to the International Affairs office with any visa/immigration questions. Morgan State University
