Topic: PFAS Contamination in Water Wells: Source Attribution and Migration Patterns by: Yong Sang (Barry) Kim, PhD
Dr. Barry Kim is an Associate Professor of Water Engineering at the Water and Environmental Research Institute of the Western Pacific at the University of Guam. His research focuses on the fate, transport, and source attribution of emerging contaminants, particularly per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). He also works on water resource management using machine learning techniques and resilience-based approaches to address water pollution and sustainability challenges in island environments.
Topic: Green, Grey, Blue, and Smart Infrastructure for Pluvial, Fluvial, and Coastal Flood Resilience by Dr. Qizhong (George) Guo, P.E., BC.WRE
Green, Grey, Blue, and Smart Infrastructure for Pluvial, Fluvial, and Coastal Flood Resilience by Dr. Qizhong (George) Guo, P.E., BC.WRE, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering Rutgers University-New Brunswick
Dr. Guo will discuss how green, grey, blue, and smart infrastructure can enhance resilience to pluvial, fluvial, and coastal flooding amid climate extremes and aging systems, sharing practical measures, lessons learned, and insights from the recent Central Texas flash flood.
