University Memorial Chapel

Greetings from the Dean

Dear Student,

Bernard KeelsThe staff of the Morgan State University Memorial Chapel would like to take a moment to welcome you to the University! We look forward to an enriching experience with you during your stay at Morgan, and invite you to visit the Chapel and partake of the many activities we have to offer. The Chapel serves students of all cultures, and strives to provide activities which are inclusive of all religious beliefs.

To begin, our Christian Sunday worship service begins at 11:00 a. m. and is open to students, faculty/staff, and the neighboring community. We encourage you to attend; the services help to keep you spiritually strengthened and refreshed while away from home. Also, the Chapel invites the campus Muslim students to attend Jummah Prayer every Friday from 1:00 p. m. to 2:00 p. m. Imam Derrick Amin looks forward to meeting you.

In addition to our worship services, the Chapel holds bible studies three times per week. The students host a bible study service on Monday afternoons; it is a great way to meet friends while strengthening your religious journey. Also, the Intervarsity Campus Chaplain (Ms. Alexis Garrett) hosts a student bible study on Wednesday evenings, and the Chapel Director hosts a bible study service on Thursday evenings. We invite you to attend any one of these sessions. Also, the University Chapel's Episcopal/Anglican Ministry hosts "Mid-day Meditation," co-hosted by Rev. Keels and Rev. Neva Brown. This special activity is from 12:00 p. m. - 1:00 p. m. every Wednesday.

Also, we invite you to partner with Mr. Reggie Price of the University Chapel's Lutheran Campus Ministries. Deacon Price oversees student volunteers who visit communities and shelters to feed and clothe the city's residents who are in need. New volunteers are always welcome! Are you gifted with singing and/or praise dancing abilities? If so, we invite you to join the Chapel's Gospel Ensemble, or the Dancers of Praise. These two groups perform during the Chapel's Sunday services, and at other special occasions on and off the campus.

In closing, we invite you to come and visit the Chapel at any time for a personal tour, and to meet the staff. We look forward to meeting you, and encourage you to continue your spiritual journey while attending Morgan State University. We are located at the south end of the campus, just past the Earl S. Richardson Library. There is something for you here at the Chapel! Come and visit, and be blessed! Our call: "Don't Pray in Desperation - LIVE in Expectation!"

Sincerely,

Rev. Dr. Bernard Keels, Dean
