Influenza (FLU) Information
According the the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Influenza (FLU) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs. In the United States, FLU season usually occurs in the Fall and Winter seasons.

According the the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Influenza (FLU) can cause mild to severe illness. Flu symptoms usually xome on suddenly and generally expeirence the symptoms listed below:
- Fever or Feeling Feverish/Chills
- Cough
- Sore Throat
- Runny or Stuffy Nose
- Muscle or Body Aches
- Headaches
- Fatigue (Tiredness)
- Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea

According to the CDC, most experts believe the Influenza (FLU) virus spreads mainly by tiny droplets made when people with flu cough, sneeze, or talk.

The Morgan State University Student Health Center currently offers the Influenza (FLU) vaccine for MSU students, faculty, and staff.
Please see the following information below regarding receiving your Influenza (FLU) vaccine at the University Health Center:
All MSU students that currently have the University Health Insurance through United Health Care can receive the FLU vaccine FREE of charge. However, please contact the University Health Center at 443-885-3236, to schedule your FLU vaccine appointment.
Students with private Health Insurance coverage must follow the instructions below:
- Cost: $15.00
- (Please visit the Bursar's Office and make a payment of $15.00 for the FLU vaccine. Take your receipt to the University Health Center to schedule your appointment for the FLU Vaccine.
Faculty and Staff with private Health Insurance Coverage must follow the instructions below:
- Cost: $20.00
- (Please visit the Bursar's Office and make a payment of $20.00 for the FLU vaccine. Take your receipt to the University Health Center to schedule your appointment for the FLU Vaccine.
