Dr. Dorsey-Elson is the Director of Instruction for the School of Global Journalism and Communication (SGJC) as well as a tenured associate professor in its department of strategic communication. She has been on the faculty at Morgan since 2001. While at Morgan, she has served in the role of Chair of the University Council (a faculty/staff governing body on campus) and directs an annual leadership conference called MSU "Explorations in LeadershipTM" for undergraduate and graduate students. She also advises the MSU chapter of the National Society for Leadership & Success, a nationally recognized professional development organization for college students.
Along with her internal roles and activities at Morgan and within the SGJC, Dr. Dorsey-Elson serves on the national board of directors for the A.K. Rice Institute for the Study of Social Systems.
Her most recent publications include the examination of the effective use of College Media and Leadership Training (Peter Lang, 2017) and best practices for developing communication, composition and learning skills in urban-educated millennials at the undergraduate level (Lexington Books, 2018).
Her favorite quotation comes from Mahatma Gandhi: "You must be the change you wish to see in the world."
Research Interests:
Intersections of communication, leadership, culture and conflict as well as best practices in teaching undergraduate courses in composition/oral communication.
