Sonce Reese, MSW 2019 Prospective Graduate - Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) Conference Proposal Acceptance

Each year, CGI U hosts a meeting where students, university representatives, topic experts, and celebrities come together to discuss and develop innovative solutions to pressing global challenges. The meeting will bring together more than 1,000 students to make a difference in CGI U's five focus areas: Education, Environment and Climate Change, Peace and Human Rights, Poverty Alleviation, and Public Health. This year, CGI U 2018 will take place at the University of Chicagofrom October 19-21, 2018.

Congressional Black Caucus

Students in Dr. Denise Davison's Policy Class (SOWK 507) took the train to DC 9/12/18 to attend Day 1 of the 48th Annual Legislative Conference of the Congressional Black Caucus. They attended sessions addressing issues such as property insurance and restorative justice and community engagement and even earned a certificate! The highlight of the day was meeting Senator Cory Booker, first African American Senator from New Jersey and outspoken social justice advocate, who took a selfie with them.
