The NIH-RISE program at Morgan State University was established in 1999. Morgan's RISE-REACHeS presents an innovative approach that will equip our trainees with Resiliency, Excellence, Achievement and Community in Health Sciences by infusing social cognitive career theory. RISE trainees will arrive at graduate school armed with a shield of resiliency, supported by academic excellence and achievement ready to face the academic rigor and psychological hurdles on the journey to a PhD in biomedical sciences.
The goals of the RISE program at Morgan are to:
- Foster science identity and establish self-efficacy from the start of freshman academic career.
- Help students see the connections between interrelated disciplines and increase academic performance and retention.
- Enhance progressive development of central skills needed for graduate school success.
