LSAMP

The Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program is an alliance-based program funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The overall goal of the program is to assist universities and colleges in diversifying the nation's science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce by increasing the number of STEM baccalaureate and graduate degrees awarded to populations historically underrepresented in these disciplines.

The overall goals of LSAMP are to significantly increase the quality and quantity of underrepresented students who successfully complete baccalaureate degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), along with increasing the number of underrepresented students who successfully enter and complete graduate programs. More specifically, the program aims to provide STEM students with the opportunity to conduct research on campus with a research mentor affording them a continuous research experience for 2-3 years which will make them more competitive for graduate school admission.
