Biography:

Jack Leonard is an Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture and director of the online graduate certificate program in Sustainable Urban Communities. A registered landscape architect and LEED accredited professional, Professor Leonard is founder and principal of JGL Design Associates, Monkton, Maryland. He holds a Bachelor in Civil Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, a Master in Business Administration from Loyola College of Maryland, and a Master of Landscape Architecture from Morgan State University. Professor Leonard's practice, research, and teaching focus on the interdisciplinary collaboration in the design of the built environment. Professor Leonard is particularly interested in the integration of science and engineering principles with site design and community planning. As the developer and the director of the graduate certificate program in Sustainable Urban Communities, Professor Leonard works to provide interdisciplinary opportunities for students, professionals, and community leaders; encouraging them to share perspectives, knowledge, and methods relative to issues of sustainability. His design interests focus on green infrastructure and its potential to catalyze the revitalization of underserved urban communities.
