International Collaboration for Participatory Health Research (ICPHR), Central Office at MSU

Mission

Addressing health inequalities is an important goal of health systems worldwide. Participatory Health Research (PHR) has become increasingly important as a means for finding solutions in communities where the occurrence and severity of health problems is greatest.

The International Collaboration for Participatory Health Research (ICPHR) was established in 2009 to strengthen the role of PHR in intervention design and decision-making on health issues. The ICPHR is open to stakeholders from all countries interested in promoting the dissemination and further development of participatory health research approaches embedded in common values and principles. The work of the ICPHR is focused on bringing together systematically the knowledge and experience of PHR in different countries for the purpose of strengthening PHR regarding issues of quality, credibility, and impact on policy and practice.

ICPHR Central Office at Morgan State University

In 2021, the ICPHR Central office moved to Morgan State University. Read an excerpt of the official announcement below:

"As a result of an international call for proposals, Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland has been selected to be the new host of the Central Office effective February 1, 2021. After ten years of service, the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Berlin will be stepping down from the hosting role.

Morgan State, established in 1967 as one of the United States' Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), is designated as Maryland's Preeminent Public Urban Research University.  Morgan serves a multiethnic and multiracial community of students, faculty, and partners outside the university, seeking to ensure that the doors of higher education are opened as wide as possible to as many as possible.

In addition to maintaining the integrity of ICPHR, Morgan State plans to generate resources through U.S. federal and other grant opportunities so as to increase ICPHR's organizational capacity."
