Computer Science Intern (Summer 2021)

We are currently seeking a Computer Science Intern for Summer Semester 2021. This position is virtual.

JOB SUMMARY

The intern will support Full stack development on GCP’s App Engine, with a modern front end.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with other team members to design, build, modify, and deploy software applications in the cloud
  • Develop web application features to accomplish project objectives
  • Build, use and maintain automated application deployment pipelines
  • Follow user requirements and documentation to code, modify and debug programs
  • Support data management actives by processing data, and perform data validation
  • Applies standard practices to analyze programs and formulate logic, perform coding, and test/debug programs
  • Prepares and obtains approval of system and programming documentation
  • Reviews system requirements and business processes
  • Works independently and as a member of a multi-functional, dynamic team
  • Support system testing as needed

THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED:

  • Must be enrolled in a university or college and majoring in computer science, information science, computer engineering, or systems engineering
  • At least one year of college-level coursework completed
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA or above
  • Programming experience with Web Frameworks such as React, or Angular
  • Programming experience with an object-oriented language such as Java, C++ or C#
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be US Person

THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED:

  • Prior internship or research experience is preferred
  • Understanding of source code control
  • Understanding of software development methodologies
  • Understanding of patterns and coding best practices
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and App Engine
  • Experience with functional languages such as Scala
  • Experience creating visualizations with D3 or similar tool
  • Experience working with geospatial data
