Chemical Engineering Internship
Our Energy Division team is currently seeking a paid Chemical Engineering Intern/Co-Op. This position is for hourly work, up to 40 hours per week, beginning May 2021. This position is located at our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Follow established test procedures to conduct laboratory and pilot scale testing
- Draft test plans, specify, assemble and operate laboratory and bench scale test equipment
- Generate, capture, analyze, and report defensible technical data
- Perform modeling to support process design and scale-up
- Support research for the evaluation of new technologies including recovery of rare earth elements, carbon capture, and chemical processing.
THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS ARE DESIRED FOR THIS POSITION:
- Must hold or be currently pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or similar degree with at least 18 months of undergraduate coursework completed
- Currently be a matriculating student in a 4- or 5-year engineering curriculum in an ABET-accredited institution
- GPA of 3.0 or above
- Related work experience (paid or unpaid) in the engineering discipline
- Experience working in a lab environment, including preparing, conducting, and documenting tests
- Experience with ChemCAD or Aspen modeling software
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Positive attitude and eagerness to take on technical challenges
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel and PowerPoint
- Physical requirements necessary
