Hopkins-HBCU Biomedical Engineering Pathway

The Hopkins-HBCU Biomedical Engineering (BME) Pathway is a structured year-long internship program designed to equip undergraduates with skills and preparation for biomedical engineering research careers. In collaboration with Johns Hopkins University, selected Morgan State University and/or Coppin State University students will engage in mentored research with Hopkins BME faculty.

The Hopkins-HBCU BME Pathway's mission is to demystify biomedical careers and prepare participants for future graduate studies.

There are three primary components to the Pathway.

Spring semester - Onboarding

• Expectation setting
• Student participation in lab meetings

Summer recess - Research

• 10 weeks with stipend (amount TBA)
• Project tasks, skill-building, and data collection

*Fall semester - Reporting

• Student-directed data analysis and synthesis
• Scholarly publication process training

*There is potential to earn course credit at home institution.
