The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) at Morgan State University advances a culture of inquiry, discovery, and innovation by expanding opportunities for students to engage in faculty-mentored research and creative scholarship. OUR connects students with research experiences, provides progressive research preparation and professional development, supports faculty mentors, and creates opportunities for students to communicate and celebrate their scholarly work.

OUR serves undergraduate students across Morgan State University University’s colleges, schools, majors, and academic disciplines. Whether students are beginning to explore research or are already engaged in advanced scholarly work, OUR provides resources and opportunities appropriate to their stage of development—from initial exploration and skill building to advanced research experiences, presentations, graduate education, and career preparation.

OUR APPROACH: A DEVELOPMENTAL RESEARCH PATHWAY

OUR recognizes that students enter research at different stages of readiness. Our developmental approach provides opportunities for students to explore research, build foundational competencies, gain authentic research experience, and ultimately serve as research leaders and mentors to other students.

WHAT WE DO

Prepare Students:  Build the knowledge, skills, and confidence students need to participate successfully in research.

Connect Students to Research:  Help students identify faculty mentors, research experiences, internships, summer programs, and other opportunities.

Support Research Experiences:  Provide programs, funding, mentoring, and developmental opportunities that enable students to progress as researchers.

Develop & Showcase Scholars:  Create opportunities for students to present their work, communicate their scholarship, and prepare for graduate education and research-related careers.

Support Faculty Mentors:  Provide resources and institutional support for faculty who engage undergraduate students in research and creative scholarship.
