Morgan Experience Student Ambassador (MESA)

The Department of Undergraduate Admission and Recruitment is currently recruiting for the position of Morgan Experience Student Ambassador (MESA). Interested candidates should have a strong desire to execute the mission of one of the Nation's largest Historically Black College and University (HBCU). A MESA is a full-time, undergraduate student who works in the Office of Undergraduate Admission and Recruitment providing tours, completing office work, and assisting with the recruitment process to help prospective high school students choose Morgan State University as their place to pursue an undergraduate education.  They are an elite group of students committed to enhancing their institution by assisting in the execution of general and targeted recruitment goals and initiatives.

Duties:  MESAs function as hosts or hostesses, showing visitors Morgan’s spectacular campus and sharing insight on the overall Morgan experience from a student’s point of view. By conducting tours for groups, families, and individuals, and by representing Morgan State University at college fairs and high schools, MESAs are a vital resource for identifying the type of students that would benefit from the Morgan experience. In addition, Ambassadors broaden their relationship with the community by recruiting at their former high schools, churches, and other civic sponsored activities where "ideal" prospects for enrollment at Morgan may be found. Morgan State University basks in a proud and unique legacy of providing leadership; a legacy which Student Ambassadors uphold, and one to which they contribute through their dedication to recruitment.

Minimum Qualifications: A current student at Morgan State University. Applicants must have excellent customer service skills. Must be able to communicate effectively, provide advice and guidance, organize, and multitask. Must also be skilled in coordinating work with other departments and agencies. Must be detailed oriented, able to meet deadlines, speak to large audiences, and be punctual.

Desired Qualifications: Experience in customer service, sales or with various student populations. Ability to work with diverse populations.
