Honoring Sacrifice and the Global Pursuit of Freedom

by Morgan State U
May 25, 2026

Dear Morgan Family,

This Memorial Day, as we honor the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who sacrificed their lives in defense of freedom and democracy, we also take a moment to acknowledge the universal sacrifices made by individuals across the globe who have fought for human dignity, justice, and self-determination.

As Morgan State University’s Choir is on tour in South Africa this week, our students find themselves in a nation whose own journey toward freedom was forged through extraordinary courage and the loss of countless lives in the struggle against apartheid. In this shared spirit of remembrance, Morgan students proudly honor the enduring legacy of all who made such sacrifices so that future generations might live with greater liberty and hope.

Let us never forget their service, their sacrifice, and our collective responsibility to uphold the ideals for which they gave so much.

Sincerely,

David K. Wilson,
