Association of College & University Educators (ACUE)
The CHANGE Initiative
The Community for HBCU Advancement Through Networked Growth and Excellence (CHANGE) is a
national initiative led by the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) in partnership with the
Association of College and University Educators (ACUE). Through CHANGE, Morgan faculty, staff, and
graduate students have expanded access to professional learning opportunities, including ACUE
Commons, certification to effective teaching practices pathways, and resources that support teaching
excellence, employee development, and student success. Morgan State University Partners With TMCF
and ACUE to Enhance Faculty Teaching and Improve Student Learning
Join us for events curated specifically for the CHANGE initiative led by experts in the HBCU community!
This page introduces two key resources available through the Change Initiative: ACUE Effective Teaching
Practices and ACUE Commons and provides information to help you make the most of these
opportunities.
ACUE Effective Teaching Practices
ACUE’s Effective Teaching Practices program equips faculty with evidence-based strategies to
strengthen instruction, increase student engagement, and improve student success. The program is
endorsed by the American Council on Education (ACE), affirming its quality, rigor, and alignment with
nationally recognized standards for effective college teaching. Faculty learn practical approaches for
creating inclusive learning environments, promoting active learning, designing effective assessments,
and providing meaningful feedback across in-person, hybrid, and online courses.

ACUE Commons
ACUE Commons is an online professional learning community where Morgan faculty, staff, and graduate
students can explore evidence-based teaching resources, participate in events, connect with educators,
and continue learning beyond a single course or certification program. Quick Studies are short, self-
paced learning experiences that explore topics such as artificial intelligence, authentic assessment,
student well-being, critical thinking, career readiness, media literacy, and other emerging issues in
higher education. Most can be completed in about an hour and are designed to provide practical ideas
that educators can apply immediately.
