Multi-Factor Authentication
Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Morgan State University has implemented Duo, a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) security tool, to provide an extra layer of protection to university accounts.
Duo helps prevent unauthorized individuals from accessing your account and protects sensitive university data. It is one of the most effective ways to maintain account security across universities.
All faculty, staff, and students will need to enroll in Duo MFA to access their Morgan State University accounts.
Enrolling is an easy process that should only take a few minutes.
How to enroll in Duo MFA:
OPTION 1: Push Notification (Recommended method)
Install the Duo app on your mobile device. When you log in, the app sends a notification to your phone, and you tap Approve to sign in. An active Wi-Fi or cellular data connection is required.
Access the setup instructions here.
OPTION 2: Text (SMS) Notification
Duo sends a 7-digit passcode via text (SMS) to your mobile device. Enter the passcode to log in. This requires a cellular connection and the ability to receive text messages. No internet connection is required.
Access the setup instructions here.
OPTION 3: Landline (Call) Notification
Duo calls your phone, and a recorded message prompts you to press a button to log in. This requires a cellular or landline connection and the ability to receive phone calls. No internet connection is required.
Access the setup instructions here.

Protect yourself from phishing and scams
As Morgan State rolls out Duo MFA, be alert for phishing emails and other messages that may try to imitate university communications.
Morgan State University will never ask you to:
- Share your password
- Share a Duo passcode
- Approve a Duo request you did not initiate
Use only official Morgan State websites and links when enrolling in or managing Duo.
If you receive an unexpected Duo request, do not approve it.

Not sure when MFA becomes required for you?
Your MFA required date is based on your class-year group.
Instructions for confirming your class standing will be added here once the university’s verification process is finalized.
If you are unsure which group applies to you, contact the Service Desk for assistance.
Already enrolled?
If you have already completed Duo enrollment, you do not need to enroll again.
Be prepared to use Duo once MFA becomes required for your assigned class-year group.
