Morgan State University is expanding enterprise-level access to Google Gemini for all students, coinciding with a campus-wide activation and a broader partnership positioning the University as a leader in AI, research, and workforce development.

As artificial intelligence rapidly reshapes how people learn, work, and create, Morgan State University is expanding enterprise-level access to Google Gemini for all students.

This moment reflects a broader strategy across the University to integrate AI into the student experience in meaningful, practical ways.

“Our focus is on making AI real and usable across the Morgan experience,” said Dr. Timothy C. Summers, Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Morgan State University. “That means giving students consistent access to the tools, the infrastructure, and the support they need to apply AI in their coursework, their research, and their future careers.”

Shaping the National Conversation

Morgan’s work is not happening in isolation.

Dr. Summers recently joined leaders from Google at Google Cloud Next for a panel focused on scaling AI readiness and expanding access to industry-recognized credentials.

His participation reflects Morgan State’s growing role in shaping how higher education approaches AI, workforce development, and emerging technologies. The University is currently the only HBCU represented on Google’s Research Technology Leaders Advisory Board, alongside institutions including Stanford, Yale, and Johns Hopkins.

Together, these engagements position Morgan not just as a participant, but as a contributor to the evolving landscape of AI in higher education.

From Access to Infrastructure

Morgan State’s expansion of Gemini access is part of a deeper partnership with Google that is advancing research and innovation across the institution.

Morgan researchers now have access to advanced AI computing infrastructure, including NVIDIA H100 GPUs, the same hardware used to train leading AI models, at significantly reduced cost. The University is also building capacity for high-performance computing, large-scale data analysis, and AI and machine learning development through Google’s platforms and research datasets. These capabilities support Morgan’s continued trajectory toward R1 status.

Connecting Learning to Opportunity

For students, the impact extends beyond the classroom.

Through Google’s ecosystem, Morgan students will have access to industry-recognized certifications, hands-on training, and connections to a network of more than 150 employers committed to considering program graduates for entry-level roles. A planned Center of Excellence on campus will further connect learning, research, and employment pathways.

"We are proud to deepen our partnership with Morgan State University by bringing Gemini AI to students, building on the University’s visionary thought leadership to ensure the next generation of talent is equipped for an AI-first future,” said Jaime Wagner, Head of Sales of Mid-Atlantic Region for Google Cloud Public Sector.

As Google continues to advance its Gemini platform and enterprise AI capabilities, Morgan is positioning its community to engage with these technologies in direct and practical ways.

Access to these tools is becoming a defining factor in how students prepare for what comes next. At Morgan State, that access is expanding across the entire student body, supported by a broader strategy that connects technology, research, and opportunity.
