The Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) program at Morgan State University prepares students to design meaningful, sustainable spaces that respond to today’s most pressing ecological and social challenges. As Maryland’s oldest accredited MLA program and the only one offered at an HBCU it combines rigorous studio work, research, and a mandatory professional co-op to ensure graduates are ready to lead in private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Program Requirements

The Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) program requires a minimum of 75 credit hours of graduate coursework, typically completed over three years of full-time study. The curriculum includes design studios, seminars in history, natural systems, technology, and visualization, as well as interdisciplinary electives. A mandatory professional co-op experience is integrated into the third year. Applicants with a background in a design-related field may be eligible for advanced placement, reducing total required credits to between 60 and 75

Financial Aid Makes Things Possible

Choosing the right program is a big decision—and we are here to help you navigate the options available for funding your education. Whether you are an in-state, out-of-state, or international student, you may be eligible for Graduate Funding. We also offer two types of Graduate Assistantships: Teaching Assistantships (TAs) and Research Assistantships (RAs). Both provide special learning opportunities in exchange for a stipend/salary and Tuition Award. In addition, by simply filing your FAFSA each year, you will be able to participate in Federal Plus Loans and Federal Direct Loan Programs. With proper planning, going back to graduate school is more than possible.
