A Message from the Vaccine Management Team Regarding Mandatory Vaccinations and Exemptions

June 23, 2021

Dear Morganites:

Please be informed the Vaccine Management Team is working diligently to put into place the guidance and mechanisms to "protect the cave” when we return in August.

Per the President’s initial announcement, the expectation is for all students and employees to comply with our vaccination requirement by August 1, 2021,with a provision to address those who are seeking exemptions. We will be posting the exemption submission process within the upcoming week and will require exemption requests to be submitted by July 31, 2021, if not sooner, to allow those who may be seeking exemptions to comply with the August 1, deadline.

In the meantime, we are reminding everyone who is accessing the campus to continue to wear a mask in all University buildings. Employees who are required to test should continue to do so. All students residing in university-managed housing are required to be vaccinated (with exceptions for approved exemptions) Students with a University approved vaccination exemption will be required to participate in weekly testing in addition to any students displaying COVID-related symptoms.

Lastly, with summer upon us, we are reminding you to continue frequent hand washing, using good judgement by wearing your mask indoors when visiting family and friends, who may or may not be vaccinated, and remaining socially distant if you are around large crowds.

We are all in this together, and together we can keep our campus community safe from the potential spread of COVID.

Sincerely,
Dr. Anita Hawkins and Dr. Kevin Banks
