New Student Checklist

New Student Checklist

Step 1: Activate & Access Your Systems

Your letter of admission includes your 8-digit student ID number and your Morgan email address needed to log into Morgan's systems. As soon as possible, follow the instructions to set up your accounts, including your Morgan student email account.

Account setup instructions: View Setup Guide

Login Tip: When logging in, enter your username (your email address without @morgan.edu). Your 8-digit student ID number and Morgan email address can be found in your admissions decision letter.

Need Help? Contact the IT Service Desk if you have issues with your initial log in and setting up your passphrase:

Phone: 443-885-HELP (4357)

Email: servicedesk@morgan.edu

You are responsible for checking your Morgan email daily. All official university communication will be sent to your Morgan email address.

Step 2: Set Up Your Student Tools

Go to EAB Navigate and download the EAB360 app to manage advising, appointments, and important reminders.

Familiarize yourself with WebSIS / Student Self Service. This is where you will handle all university-related business, including viewing and paying bills, registering for classes, checking holds, and more.

Step 3: Meet Your Advisor

Now that you are in EAB Navigate, use the tool to schedule your advising appointment.

  • Review Degree Works before your meeting to see how your transferred credits were applied to your degree. If any schools or colleges you attended are missing, be sure official transcripts are submitted to transfer@morgan.edu. Please note that transfer evaluations can take up to 20 days to be completed.
  • Prepare questions about your remaining requirements.
  • Help us help you! Be prepared to tell us about your reason for returning to school, your professional and life experiences, and your academic and professional goals.

Schedule Advising

Step 4: Register for Classes

Students are responsible for registering, dropping, and withdrawing from classes using WebSIS / Student Self Service. Advisors provide guidance, but you are ultimately responsible for managing your enrollment.

  • Review the Academic Dates Guide for registration and add/drop deadlines and plan accordingly.
  • Use Degree Works to determine which courses you should take based on your remaining requirements.
  • Verify your final schedule in WebSIS and carefully check section formats before registering: "W" = web/asynchronous (no class meetings); "R" = remote synchronous (scheduled Zoom meetings); numbered sections (e.g., 001) = in-person on campus.

Step 5: Prepare Financially & Secure Your Enrollment

Preparing financially is a top priority for continued enrollment. Take care of your bill and make arrangements as early as possible.

  • View your bill and review your financial aid in WebSIS. Each student is assigned a Financial Aid Counselor—contact them with questions.
  • Submit the FAFSA to be considered for federal aid and additional institutional aid opportunities.
  • Apply for scholarships through Scholarship Universe.
  • Set up a payment plan as soon as you are registered for classes. Enrollment in payment plans has deadlines—do not miss them.

Addressing your financial responsibilities early helps ensure a smooth start to the semester and protects your ability to remain enrolled.

Step 6: Get Your BEARcard

Your BEARcard can be requested online by uploading a photo, and it can be mailed directly to your mailing address.

The number on the back of your BEARcard is required to access online library resources.
