Miss Harriet A. Woolford
was graduated from Morgan College in 1913 with the A.B. degree. She was
immediately employed as a teacher and dormitory matron at the Branch Preparatory
School in Lynchburg, Virginia. In December 1917, when this school was
destroyed by fire, Miss Woolford heroically saved all of the girls in
the dormitory, but the exposure and strain that she experienced were more
than she could bear. She died soon after the calamity. Morgan College
recognized her bravery and sacrifices by naming the College Infirmary
in her honor.
