Conference Purpose
The purpose of the conference is to provide a forum for mental health professionals, researchers, educators, and students to share knowledge, experiences, and ideas that specifically address the mental health needs of Black college students. Our intent is to encourage professional growth, to establish connections between mental health professionals and to foster collaboration between mental health professionals and students.

David A. Jobes, Ph.D., is a Professor of Psychology and Co-Director of Clinical Training at the Catholic University of America. His research and writing in suicide has produced over fifty publications. As a nationally recognized suicidologist, Dr. Jobes has spoken to a broad range of audiences and is frequently interviewed within the media on the topic of suicide. Dr. Jobes is a past President of the American Association of Suicidology and is the recipient of that organization’s 1995 “Edwin Shneidman Award” in recognition of early career contribution to suicide research. As a board certified clinical psychologist (American Board of Professional Psychology), Dr. Jobes maintains a private clinical and forensic practice at the Washington Psychological Center, P.C.
Annelle B. Primm, M.D., MPH is currently the Director of Minority and National Affairs at the APA and is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. From 1993 until 2004, she served as the medical director of the Johns Hopkins Community Psychiatry Program where she developed and oversaw a variety of mental health services for adults.
A graduate of Harvard-Radcliffe College and Howard University College of Medicine, Dr. Primm completed psychiatric residency, fellowship in Social and Community Psychiatry, and Masters of Public Health degree at Johns Hopkins.
Dr. Primm is nationally recognized for her work in cultural psychiatry, health and mental health disparities, psychiatric illness co-occurring with substance use disorders and chronic diseases, and community collaborations to improve mental health of underserved populations. She is the producer of two culturally-tailored mental health education videotapes: Black and Blue and Gray and Blue.
Dr. Primm is a Distinguished Fellow of the APA, a member of the American College of Psychiatrists, Vice President of the American Association of Community Psychiatrists and past Vice President for Public Education of the Mental Health Association of Maryland. She has received numerous awards and honors for her work in community psychiatry.
Audrey B. Chapman, is a nationally know figure in the area of Male-Female Relationships. She has developed a “Tough Love” approach to helping males and females to discover alternative solutions to a myriad of problems. Ms. Chapman is also the host of THE AUDREY CHAPMAN SHOW on WHUR 96.3 F.M. radio in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. She conducts weekly live interviews with individuals for the community as well as expert celebrity guests on romantic problems. Ms. Chapman has also authored several books such as Mansharing: Choice or Dilemma, published by W. Morrow, Inc., Entitled to Good Loving, published by Henry Holt, Inc. and Getting Good Loving, published by Random House/ Ballentine Books. Ms. Chapman has also appeared as an expert guest on national television shows, such as the Phil Donahue Show, Oprah Winfrey Show, Sally Jesse Raphael, 20/20 News, Good Morning American, Maury Povich Show, Tony Browns Journal, and Travis Smiley Show/ B.E.T.

Continuing Education Units
The MSU Continuing Education department will offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
You may earn up to 15 contact hours for conference participation and the total cost has been included with your registration fees.
Cancellation/ Refund Policy
A refund less $25.00 will be made to participants who cancel their conference registration by October 12, 2007. No refunds can be made for cancellations after this date. All cancellations must be in writing and can be faxed to the Counseling Center at 443.885.8208 or mailed to the address on the registration form.
