Commuter Student ServicesLocation: 301 McKeldin Center The Office of Commuter Services (OCS) exists to provide programs, services, and research for the benefit of off-campus and commuter students. Good Morning Commuters Brunch The purpose of the brunch is to provide continental breakfast to those students who do not have time to eat in the mornings, who arrive early for classes, want to meet friends, or just get a closer parking space. This service is provided every other Wednesday during the semester from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. in Room 317 of the McKeldin Center. Bulletin Board The Commuter Bulletin Board is a centralized source of information for commuting students. All student organizations or individuals wishing to use the Commuter Bulletin Board outside of the Commuter Lounge, must leave information in OCS to be put on the bulletin board. Information concerning events and programs are posted daily. Commuter Newsletter A special newsletter for commuters is published every fall semester by the Office of Commuter Services and is made available to all commuter students. Articles on commuter events are featured along with helpful information about facilities and services on campus. Commuter Student Lounge/ Study Area The Commuter Student Lounge is located on the third level of the McKeldin Center, Room 317. The Lounge/study area is open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The services available in the lounge are two (2) computers with printer, and an area for typing. Students wishing to use the typewriter and/or computers should check with the director of Commuter Services, McKeldin, Center Room 301 Emergency Car Kits In the event of car trouble on campus, the Office of Commuter Services provides emergency car kits for student use. Student ID Cards must be left in the Office for Commuter Services before checking out equipment. Commuter Student Council The Commuter Student Council is a student organization open to all commuter students charged with monitoring problems and needs of our commuter and off-campus students. The Council is the liaison between the Director and the commuter and off-campus students. Meetings are held weekly in the McKeldin Center, Room 308. Commuter students are invited to attend the meetings and represent commuter concerns in the Student Government. Commuter Student Parking and Vehicle Registration Parking for commuters is available on "J" Lot behind the Soldier's Armory on the South Campus. Commuter students are required to have vehicle registration decals to park on campus. Students must purchase parking permits from the University Cashier. The receipt is then presented to the University Police Department (Washington Service Center) which issues the parking decal. Parking is provided on an open registration basis with the exception of resident parking (which is provided on a first-come first-served basis). webmaster@moac.morgan.edu |
