MORGAN INTERFAITH CENTER

Ten-Year Goals

  1. Community Resource Center
    • This Center will offer an on-line research resource to non-profit organizations seeking to pursue grant-writing opportunities.
    • This Center will serve as a Baltimore grantsmanship center.
    • We plan to have this Center operational by 2004.
  2. Community Outreach
    • This initiative seeks to form a community-church advisory board.
    • This initiative seeks to organize a math-science initiative as well as a health initiative.
    • This initiative seeks to form a student leadership development process.
    • This initiative seeks to develop an annual urban ministries conference and an annual call to the church conference.
    • This initiative seeks to sponsor foreign and local missions trips for students.
    • We plan to have organized 5 successful community outreach projects by 2006.
  3. Child Care Center
    • This Center will provide childcare services for students from Morgan State and Coppin State Universities who require these services.
    • This Center will employ professionally trained staff and be financially profitable.
    • Plans are already underway to open the Child Care Center. Stay tuned for further information.
  4. Conference Center
    • This Center will serve as a hospitality center for nonprofit and religious groups and organizations across the state of Maryland.
    • This Center will provide a peace center for groups in conflict in the community.
    • We plan to have the Hospitality Center open to all groups by Fall 2004.
  5. Educational Center
    • This Center seeks to organize weekly educational seminars on a variety of subjects as well as weekly theme discussions for students and staff.
    • This Center seeks to develop a Divinity School to serve all faith groups in the Baltimore area.
    • This Center seeks to organize a lay academy to train lay church leadership in key leadership areas.
    • This Center seeks to organize credit courses focused on problems and issues in Baltimore City.
    • This Center seeks to establish an institute for religion and culture.
    • This Center seeks to convene an annual Christian-Muslim dialogue.
    • We plan to have organized four major educational components by 2010.
  6. Parent Center
    • This Center seeks to develop a parent organization that will implement parent/student activities and provide a refuge for parents of MSU students.
    • This Center seeks to serve as a crisis center for parents.
    • This Center seeks to coordinate various existing campus organizations that already serve parents.
    • We plan to solicit parent involvement and program planning by Fall 2006.
  7. Moral Atmosphere Campaign
    • The Morgan Interfaith Center seeks to impart a spiritual awareness throughout the MSU campus community.
    • The Center seeks to offer a series of symposia aimed at raising awareness of the dangers of violence and aggressive behaviors across campus.
    • The Center seeks to provide alternatives to negative sexual and social behaviors through the formation of prayer and study groups offering alternatives to amoral behavior on campus.
    • The Center seeks to provide individualized counseling for students confused by the media and societal values that can be harmful and counterproductive to human development.
  8. Leadership Development
    • This initiative seeks to develop a Bible-based leadership series teaching values and character development to graduating seniors hired to work in the corporate arena.
    • This initiative seeks to develop a leadership academy for any student seeking to serve the larger community as a servant leader. This initiative seeks to increase the leadership skill level of student participants.
    • We plan to have 50 students complete the program by 2007.
