Professor Yvonne Greene is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. Professor Greene received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. Professor Greene has been a licensed clinical social worker for over twenty years with specialization in Bereavement Counseling, Crisis Intervention, and Domestic Violence. Currently Professor Greene is the Chairperson of the undergraduate Social Work Department in the School of Social Work
Professor Greene's research interests include exploring the cultural connection between domestic violence and African-American women and the effects of family violence on the experiences and behaviors of children. Additional areas of interest include the role culture and spirituality play in providing effective social work practice with African American women.
Professor Greene has been a consultant to numerous agencies and has conducted workshops and trainings locally and nationally on such topics as domestic violence, cultural competency, crisis intervention, and faith-based social work practice.
