Dr. Umaru Bah is a tenured Associate Graduate Professor of Communication Studies. He holds a B.A. with distinction in English, French and Linguistics from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, an M.A. in French from Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. with Distinction from Howard University.

Dr. Bah’s two main areas of scholarship are knowledge management, and measurement of digital social media audience and content. He has in these areas taught courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, published peer-reviewed scholarly articles, gave invited-guest lectures and made presentations at national and international academic conferences and institutions.

Among the numerous honors and awards that he has received are the Hawthorne Dissertation Award, the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship, and the U.S. Fulbright Scholar Award. He has travelled to many parts of the world and speaks several languages. Dr. Umaru Bah is currently working on a book exploring the critical link between information management and national development, based largely on data he collected in Sierra Leone during his tenure there as Fulbright scholar in 2011-2012.
