Laura K. Dorsey-Elson’s professional and personal motto in life is taken from the great Mahatma Gandhi who said “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”

She is a tenured Associate Professor of Communication Studies and specializes in leadership development, strategic organizational communication, diversity/global communication and conflict management. She has specific professional skills in university-level teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, leadership development, diversity training, team building/group development, individual coaching, curriculum development, instructional design, strategic planning/visioning and research design, analysis & interpretation. She is certified by the A.K. Rice Institute for the Study of Group Relations, is a Senior Fellow at the James McGregor Burns Academy of Leadership and advises the Rawlings Center for Public Leadership.

Dr. Dorsey-Elson has published in the areas of applied race/diversity communication theory, African American female small group communication, unconscious organizational processes and organizational conflict.

In additional to being a professional academic and independent organizational consultant and leadership coach, Dr. Dorsey-Elson is married with two beautiful children and attributes much of her success to the love and support of her family.
